Urban planning students from Queen's University recently gave a presentation to city staff on development ideas for the Rideau Canal. The presentation included numerous innovative ideas for developing the canal throughout Ottawa East. The complete presentation is available here (Warning: attachment is 22MB).

Earlier this month, the City of Ottawa held an open house regarding the proposed reconstruction of Lees Avenue (from Main to Chestnut). View the map of the proposed redesign that was presented at the meeting. The proposed reconstruction involves the reconstruction of the street surface components, including a new roadway, cycling provisions, sidewalks, parking arrangement, and landscaping. The project includes the provision of an eastbound bike lane along the south curb line, and the elimination of on-street parking in that location.

The public consultation group concerning the Rideau River Western Pathway met again on November 6, 2013. View the city’s presentation. A public open house was also held on November 13 and residents have until November 27 to submit comments on this phase of the project.
