Construction notice for residents of Elliot Avenue and Rideau River Drive

Beginning the week of November 3, 2014, the City of Ottawa will begin construction work on properties located along Elliot Avenue and Rideau River Drive (in addition to Leanne Street, Phoenix Crescent, Payette Drive, and Granada Drive). This activity will include the rehabilitation of several depressed driveway entrances at the roadway edge.

WHO: The City of Ottawa has hired the Contractor, Ottawa D Squared, to complete the work.

WHY: The purpose of the project is to address concerns related to drainage from the roadway flowing onto depressed driveways.

WHAT: The work consists of the removal of sections of asphalt pavement and the construction of the drainage control features within the private driveways and the right of way of these roadways. As a part of the project, the City of Ottawa will be completing some additional roadway and drainage modifications on several of the streets as identified below.

WHEN: This work is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of November 3, 2014 and should last for approximately 3 weeks on several driveways. The work will resume in the spring, depending on the suitability of the weather for construction during the next month. The construction work will likely be completed during the daytime hours. Local sections of the roadway adjacent to the driveway entrances that are affected may be open to local traffic only, while maintaining acceptable traffic flow.

Accessibility is an important consideration for the City of Ottawa. If you require special accommodation, please see contacts below.

For any emergency outside normal working hours on weekdays and weekends, please call the city at 3-1-1.

Old Ottawa East Membership Drive - canvassers needed!

We are in the final push for the 2015 membership drive. There are six streets that do not have canvassers and if you or anyone you know could spare a bit of time between now and November 6th it would be a great help to ensure the community has a successful membership drive. The time commitment is roughly 1-2 hours and involves knocking on doors and asking residents to either join or renew their membership in the OOECA and delivering a flyer with details regarding the OOECA Annual General Meeting on November 11th. Instruction and membership kits are provided.

Streets in need of canvassers are: Drummond, Glenora, Hazel, McGillvray, Echo - Immaculata to Clegg and Clegg - North side - Main to Echo.
If you would like to volunteer, please contact Suzanne Johnston at 613.795.8199 or at
It is a great way to meet your neighbours!
